As a coeliac with other allergies I find it difficult to find somewhere to stay where I can relax and enjoy my stay without worrying about being ill. Hosts Tanya and John made us very welcome at their beautifully furnished home where their attention to detail made everything just about perfect… from the welcoming cup of tea and cakes to the fresh flowers and fruit bowl, not to mention chocolate brownies (all gluten free) in the attractive bedroom. Dinner was simply amazing (again, all gluten free, vegetarian and dairy free for me too), and we spent a wonderful evening putting the world to rights with our charming hosts. Breakfast again catered for my dietary preferences and nothing was too much trouble. We both slept really well in the lovely comfortable bed. We cant wait to return when we have a little more time. Castle Farmhouse and Knife and fork restaurant are really not to be missed.

Just spent a delightful night at Knife and Fork after a party locally. Tanya and John were most welcoming, especially as my husband turned up in sweaty lycra! The location, on the edge of Deddington, was wonderfully quiet and secluded and yet still close enough to walk into town.

Our room was beautifully presented, light and airy and with a generous en suite. There were some lovely bespoke touches: delicious gooey brownies in a jar; a variety of fresh fruit and a great selection of teas and coffee. The bed was very comfortable, with a selection of pillows, and the option of an additional cover should we need it.

Breakfast was outstanding: yogurt with fruit and nuts, smoked salmon on a potato and spinach cake with asparagus and a poached egg and as much toast as you could possibly want. Delicious.

As a guest you couldn’t ask for more and our hosts were brilliant. I couldn’t recommend this place highly enough to anyone.

Castle Farmhouse is run by a couple and has a delightfully relaxed atmosphere which belies the extremely hard work that goes into producing a veritable feast, all of which is Gluten Free.

It has a small, but not cramped, dining room that seats up to 16 guests and just two double bedrooms.

Among the twelve guests my husband and I were the only ones staying the night, the rest were from the surrounding area. There were two coeliacs and somebody who was wheat intolerant and a vegetarian.

All the food is gluten free as the Lady of the house is a coeliac and has to taste the food as she does all the preparation and cooking.

My husband who knows only too well what some gluten free food can taste like, said that none of it tasted different from what he would have expected from ” normal” food. In fact it was normal food but without any foods that contained gluten and was delicious.

Those with problems with wheat or gluten in their diet should eat here they could stay the night and have a really top class gluten free breakfast breakfast if dinner is not what they would like. The second bedroom had guests who did not come for the dinner, just breakfast.

The service was exemplary. There was nothing to dislike at all.

“We simply can’t recommend Tanya and John enough! What a lovely couple of people they are. Truly marvellous hosts with a marvellous home to boot! We were so very lucky to be welcomed in and greeted with tea, coffee and homemade chocolate brownies. My husband comes from a family of bakers and said they were the best brownies he’s ever tasted (he ate them all)! The rooms themselves are gorgeous, spacious and spotless. There are just enough personal touches to make it feel like a home away from home. In the bathroom Tanya had thought of everything that might be needed on a trip away from home and I was particularly happy to see bee friendly products for us to use. We couldn’t have asked for more. Back to the food and we must say that the breakfast was absolutely first class, Tanya is an amazing chef and we will be returning at some point in the future to sample her pop up restaurant, which was fully booked the night we stayed. The location is stunning and perfectly peaceful. We were able to walk into the village and enjoy dinner and drinks at the local pub safe in the knowledge that we only had one straight road to navigate on our return! Don’t look any further, you won’t get better than this!”

We had a lovely stay with Tanya and John. The rooms are beautiful, very clean and wonderfully relaxing. Tanya’s breakfast was incredible and well worth a trip out to Deddington for! Deddington itself is very lovely and there’s plenty to see and do in the local area. We’d recommend staying here to anyone and hope to come back soon and try the supper club!
